2016
Shared Practices Group grew from a community of dentists who wanted to share what worked in their practices. That community became the foundation for a dentist-owned group focused on full arch implant care.
2017
As that community grew, the team recognized an opportunity to turn their shared vision into a business. They began consulting with practicing dentists, guiding them in building exceptional, patient-focused dental practices. Their approach emphasized not just technical excellence, but also the importance of compassionate care and genuine patient relationships.

Through consulting work, a community of like-minded, family-oriented dentists took shape. This community was united by a commitment to upholding the highest standards of care, ensuring that every dental office they touched operated with the same exceptional “best practices.” These practices were not just about procedures. They were about creating environments where patients felt safe, valued, and understood.

In response to the growing demand for this approach, Shared Practices expanded into a Dental Support Organization (DSO) named Shared Practices Group (SPG). This marked the beginning of a new chapter, where expertise in practice management could be applied on a larger scale, impacting more practices and communities.

Dr. Alex Sharp is the CEO of Shared Practices Group and Shared Practices, LLC. With a passion for a “Team First” culture, Dr. Sharp acquired his first practice in 2018 after spending several years honing his approach to clinical treatment and leadership, believing that the sure path to success in dentistry starts with investing in one’s team: only then can the team truly take care of their patients.
Dr. Matt Guarino graduated from dental school in 2016 and honed his clinical skills at a hospital based GPR and FFS associateship. He purchased a solo office in Westchester County, NY and operated it as a super solo for almost 4 years. In 2019, he joined Shared Practices as the third partner, bringing his zeal for coaching, case acceptance, and streamlined operations.
Dr. Austin Davis started Memphis Dentures and Implants in 2020, which was the original location and inspiration for the SPG practice model. In 2021, he joined Shared Practices as a co-founder to establish the SPG platform, beginning the expansion of the denture and implant model across the United States.
As Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer, Dr. Ford brings an unparalleled level of tenacity and drive to Shared Practices Group. While a three-sport athlete, Matt received a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Business Management from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. Dr. Ford then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. Dr. Ford acquired his first practice in 2018, and grew via acquisition to a 4 location group in SE South Dakota by 2021.
